National Tile Week is back for it’s second year, running all this week (10-17th April) and to celebrate there will be various events to focus our attention on the best of British design and manufacture when it comes to the once humble tile. Tiles have definitely seen a massive growth in popularity over the last couple of years and if Instagram is a barometer then you’ll have notice capturing your pretty shoes on an even prettier tiled floor has become ‘total Instagram goals’ and even developed it’s own hashtag.
This make was inspired by a trip to one of my favourite shop for ‘things you never knew you needed’, Flying Tiger. I came across this lovely grey marl, jersey yarn and instantly had to buy it and worry about dreaming up a use for it later. It wasn’t long before I was taken with the idea of somehow donning a wrapping technique to create a handy, whilst pretty, trivet. I’m often trying to scramble for things to put down to protect the table or surfaces from scalding heat. Our table is a bit worse for wear on that front amongst others but I’m soon to be getting a new one and looking forward to using things to keep it protected. Having said that, these could easily be used as coasters for hot drinks too. You need very few materials to create this Scandi inspired idea which is even better. Read more
You may have noticed my posts taking on a much more Summery vibe of late, for which I’ll make no apologies, unless you live in a country that is currently experiencing mid Winter. Perhaps just store these tips and freebies up for when the warmth returns. I’ve fallen in love with all things indigo and thought it would translate rather nicely into dinner ware for a Summer party or get together. Balmy evenings spent with friends are always a great idea so above I’ve pulled out my favourite Etsy finds for you to have a gander at. They’re so pretty and I’ve especially fallen hard for those painted spoons!
