I can’t believe it’s already day 5 of the 12 styled days of Christmas with West Elm. Hopefully you’re all enjoying a restful Saturday, perhaps even a cosy breakfast. If not then Katy from Apartment Apothecary is coming to the rescue to bring you some inspiration right away! I’m so happy to have her and that sharp styling eye of hers, onboard. She has a knack for pairing eclectic pieces as if they were made for each other and her soft colour palettes are oh so calm and soothing. Here’s Katy to tell you all about her Christmas table.

What’s the idea behind your table?

As mornings were so special, I had to choose an advent breakfast table with hot cinnamon rolls and a special homemade advent calendar present. Being a cold, dark December morning there are plenty of homemade candles (in little vintage cake tins) and twinkly lights and a cosy blanket so everyone can stay in their PJ’s. For the homemade advent calendar I cut out two star shapes from a wallpaper remnant, sewed them up on a machine, left a gap, popped in a couple of chocolate coins and then sewed up the hole.

How is this idea personal to you / how does it relate to how you celebrate the festive season

As a child the thing I looked forward to the most about the festive season were the mornings; I would jump out of bed every morning, so excited to see what picture was behind the door of my advent calendar and don’t even get me started on the excitement levels of finding and opening our stockings on Christmas morning itself.

How will you be spending this Christmas?

In London with my family. We take the dogs for a walk in the morning and then have drinks with friends. We then walk through the quiet streets of London to a special restaurant for lunch – no cooking or washing up for us! Then home for lots of Christmas telly and more drinking and eating.

4) What’s top of your Christmas list this year?

Who knows? I like surprises (as long as they are nice things for my home!).
