AD / PR samples | I’ve had so much fun perusing Facebook marketplace for home pieces to upcycle (I’m sure Nick’s sick of playing taxi to retrieve said items). @frenchicpaint hooked me up with some products to help me along the way and I’ve fallen in love with The Lazy Range which is self priming and self sealing and with just two coats looks amazing! How cute is this little corner of the kids bedroom looking?! Have you ever tried upcycling pieces for your home?

Back to real life after a dreamy, 4 night, kid-free break. 4 nights of 10 hours sleep, 4 days of sunshine, leisurely strolls, good food, uninterrupted reading, apple picking in the orchard and absolute peace & quiet. We missed the littles but this trip away was exactly what we needed.

And we’re off on a little 10 year anniversary getaway. The grandparents are looking after the littles and we’re heading to an Airbnb in Herefordshire and we couldn’t be more excited about catching up on sleep! We haven’t been on any form of holiday with or without kids since our 3 day babymoon before Lars and we haven’t taken any ‘extended annual leave’ since Christmas 2019!…unless you count last Christmas but I’m not sure you can when we felt so stressed, broken and traumatised that we actually returned to work early because it was at least a distraction. Think it’s definitely time for a rest! So Instagram I bid you farewell until next week 👋🏻

I’ve had a lot of people asking why I’m pouring so much time and effort into doing up and decorating our rental house and the short answer is…because I want to 😁
.
You may be renting because you’re in a location short term, perhaps you want the flexibility or are in house shares but lots of people rent because they can’t afford to buy a place of their own and I’m of the mindset that us renters also deserve to make the space we live in somewhere we love to be and get to express our creativity through that.
.
I’ve never been one to leave my rented homes alone but I think even more so after attempting to part buy and that falling through, I want to feel settled somewhere rather than a squatter…Oh yeah and you probably know interiors are one of my passions.
.
So yeah we’ve kind of undertaken a renter style renovation and I love the process even if it is exhausting. We asked our landlord about painting and the laminate floor but everything else is removable or are holes we can fill and paint over 👍🏻 Fellow renters how do you feel about decorating and styling your home? Is it important to you or have you not really tried before?

4 years old today! Our rainbow baby and the sweete

4 years old today! Our rainbow baby and the sweetest, quietest, sleepiest newborn who grew into a fiercely independent, gentle nurturer with the most vivid of imaginations. This little one is such a ‘lady’ and lives for pink, princesses and hates getting even a dot of dirt on her. We’ve reached the point where she only wants to wear dresses unless I have a very compelling reason why not. She’s known for her stubbornness which can be infuriating but in the last year I’ve come to appreciate that side of her a little bit more because she isn’t a people pleaser and isn’t willing to do something she doesn’t want to do or that makes her feel uncomfortable…we just need to work on that temper.

We’ve come to understand she’s not shy as much as cautious. When she knows you’re a good egg she will love you hard…and perform solo medleys of songs she’s created herself, demanding an applause at the end and taking a bow. If she doesn’t know you she is highly unlikely to talk to you, far more likely to glare and growl at you 😂 We always say that with Maggie it seems laughable to imagine a stranger luring her away in a park (Lars on the other hand is a different story).

She’s been through so much upheaval this year and absorbed so much of the pain and suffering we’ve endured but she’s a strong little one and it’s so lovely to see her now making friends again and starting to embrace new situations.

Made the most of the ‘last day of summer’ yest

Made the most of the ‘last day of summer’ yesterday with a sunny picnic, a priming and painting session in the garden, a washing line full of clothes and water play, all topped off with a generous poo on the rug from Lars…oh wait, that’s nothing to do with summer. It made me realise just how quickly this summer has zoomed by. Life has been on hold for us until very recently and I’m still very much in denial that it’s September and people are cracking out images of pumpkins, cosy candles and blankets. I’m not ready for that guys! I feel cheated but I guess I’ll just have to wait until next year. Anyone else feel like they didn’t get a summer this year? Who else isn’t champing at the bit for spiced lattes and socks?

My people ❤️ I won’t lie, there have been many times when the kids have made me want to tear my hair out in chunks since moving house but then Lars runs up to me and shouts, ‘Mummy! You’re my hero!’ followed by a big cuddle and a prologued face stroke 💔and all is well in my world again. You can burn the house down for all I care with that kind of sweet talk 😂

AD/PR product | Sooo in our madness we decided the first night in our new house would be Lars’ first night in a big boy bed. I won’t lie, I wasn’t hopeful knowing how long he’d spend merrily dancing around in his cot and throwing his toys over the edge at bedtime but he’s been an absolute dream! So much so, he’s taken to just randomly saying that he wants to go to bed throughout the day and basically runs up at nap time, calling Maggie up to kiss him goodnight 💔 He hasn’t run around his room once or played with toys or thrown himself around the bed…as if by magic he’s super chill. I can’t be sure but the magic may well be the beautiful organic mattress and mattress protector from @naturalmatbaby he’s using made from all natural, chemical free materials and super breathable, great for temperature regulation. Better for the environment but also better for him 👍🏻 He’s got the best bed in the house!
