Private Digitise Your Lettering Session

£180.00

If you’re excited to get to grips with the art of brush lettering but would prefer some more focused time and attention, rather than a class full of people then this option would work best for you. This session lead by Teri Muncey, designer, illustrator, stylist and the talent behind The Lovely Drawer. Have her on hand to critique your progress and give advice and support to perfect your technique and leave you confident to continue developing your own style outside the class. Once you’ve purchased a ticket I will get in contact to arrange a time and date that suits us both. Please note that I don’t host private sessions on Sundays but can be flexible throughout the rest of the week. The session is held at my West London studio in Shepherd’s Bush/Acton area.

You may be a budding typographer or attended one of our lettering workshops already. If you’ve been left wanting to take your skills to the next level and move forward into new applications with your skills then there’s no better way than learning how to digitise your hand lettering. If you would like to do that one and one so you can receive specific tutoring on your lettering style as well as helping you reach particular goals for final application then a private session is the perfect choice.

Teri will take you through the basics using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, starting from scanning or photographing your work to creating a print or web ready digital piece. You’ll learn how to create letter layers, colour overlays, how to tidy up and reformat your letters, how to fill letter shapes with pattern or texture, place text over photographs or pair with fonts, as well as how to create vector shapes that can be easily enlarged with no loss of quality. You’ll learn how to work to retain a hand finished look and in contrast, how to work to a flat graphic look.

By the end of the session we want you to go away confident to apply your new found skills to your love of lettering, giving you so many possibilities for application, whether that be web headers, logos, wedding stationery, greetings cards, laser cuts or signage.

You will receive detailed guide sheets to help you in the session as well as to take away for reference afterwards.

In order to do the class you will need to have with you:

  • A charged laptop with Photoshop and Illustrator or Creative Cloud. You can often download trial versions of these if you don’t yet have them.
  • An image scanned or photographed of your lettering at 260 dpi resolution or above, along with any textures you’d like to play with on the night.

PLEASE NOTE: Tickets are non-refundable although the date can be changed if at least 12 hours notice is given.
